    All-College Honors Essay
    Essay: Please answer one (1) of the following questions below (500 word limit). Your essays will be evaluated based on a combination of content, organization, creativity, and substance.

    Prompt #1:  Honors students at Canisius seek “magis,” the Jesuit term for “more” AND are committed to the examined life. Describe a time when you either strove for something greater or gave back to your community, and reflect on what you learned from the experience.

    Prompt #2: When Walt Disney first described his Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT), he said, “Everything in EPCOT will be dedicated to the happiness of the people who will live, work, and play here… and to those who come here from all around the world to visit our living showcase.” He then proceeded to build his ideal community. Describe in detail your ideal community. Explain your choices in the creation process.

    Prompt #3:  Honors students are contemplatives in action. What issue or challenge facing the world ignites your passion. In what ways would you respond to that challenge or issue?
    OPTIONAL submission: If you wish, you may also submit a video or other electronic portfolio that serves as an introduction to what makes you special—your talents, passions, and/or achievements. We encourage you to think outside the box as you make your portfolio. We are looking for evidence of curiosity, creativity, commitment, resilience. We would be glad to see your talent, read your writing, watch your robots, envision your business plan, accompany you in your service, or whatever else you would like to share. Please limit videos to 5 minutes. Note that this option does not replace the essay requirement above.If you choose not to submit a video, that will not affect your online application.

    In addition, please have two (2) teachers you have had a class with submit a recommendation for you to the Canisius College Admissions Office. Submissions of any materials may be submitted via email to Matt Kwiatkowski (kwiatkom@canisius.edu).
