Hassett Family Creative Writing Scholarship Application 2026

Canisius University is proud to invite incoming freshmen or transfer students who declare a major in creative writing, and who demonstrate outstanding talent and ability as a writer, to apply for the Hassett Family Creative Writing Scholarship. The scholarship is competitive, and the awardee will receive a full-tuition scholarship.

The Hassett Family Creative Writing Scholarship is renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study at Canisius University provided that the recipient remains a declared creative writing major and maintains a minimum GPA of 3.0. The scholarship is applied after all other aid is awarded, including merit awards.

To qualify for the Hassett Scholarship, applicants are required to:

Apply to Canisius and select Creative Writing as their intended major
Include a writing sample of up to 10 pages of creative work
Include one letter of recommendation addressing their potential as a creative writer
Apply by the application deadline of 1/19/2026
Submit FAFSA by 1/19/2026

Creative Writing Scholarship Letter of Recommendation
